In the framework of the Project in Support of the democratic strengthening in the Republic of Guinea (PARD-Guinea), funded by the European Union, the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) kicked off its Leadership and Electoral Conflict Management Training (LEAD) today, Monday, January 22, 2024, in Conakry. This week-long training program seek to benefit members of key partners, such as the parliamentary administration of the National Transitional Council (CNT), commissioners, and officials from the High Authority of Communication (HAC), as well as participants from CSOs, notably from the Cadre de dialogue structuré - CDS (Structured Dialogue Framework).
The primary objective of this comprehensive seven-day training is to empower participants from HAC, CNT, and Guinean CSOs, including members of the CDS, by enhancing their leadership skills. The overall objective is to give them keys to address and prevent or mitigate electoral related conflicts and violence throughout electoral cycles. Additionally, the training seeks to extend knowledge to other stakeholders on the same subject. Subsequently, another training of trainers is foreseen for officials from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization (MATD).
The ongoing training of trainers, will be directly followed by the LEAD cascade training. The initial sessions are scheduled to take place in Conakry from January 31 to February 3, 2024, with two simultaneous trainings, and from February 6 to 9, 2024, for a third session. This inaugural training cycle will be succeeded by 15 cascades training in various regions of the country, spanning from late February to June 2024.
