Alessio Beltrami is the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of ECES.
Building up on 7 years of business management experience and in this context, he supported the operational follow-up of numerous projects in different countries, such as Gabon, Senegal, Jordan, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali and Chad.
He participated in various field support missions for the PEV and EURECS Ethiopia and Pro Peace Kenya projects and supported the closing missions of the projects in Senegal and Nigeria.
Additionally, as part of the Pro Peace Kenya project, he participated in the last Kenyan elections, in support of the peer mission, organised with the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).
He acted as ECES focal point, for the project ‘European Resource for Mediation Support – ERMES III’, funded by the European Union, managing relations with the consortium partners and experts involved in the Assignments. Within the framework of the project ‘Pro Electoral Integrity’, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs of International Cooperation, in support of the African Union, in addition to assiting the implementation of activities, he supported several missions on the African territory, as ECES representative on the ground, in relations with the African Union, in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Niger, Togo, Mozambique and Kenya.
As Senior Project Advisor & Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, he participated in identification and formulation missions in Burkina Faso and Guinea.
He holds a degree in International Relations from the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Florence - ‘Cesare Alfieri’, and attended the ERASMUS programme at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, in the Faculty of Political Science. He also attended and obtained the Advanced Diploma in Effective Electoral Assistance at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) in Milan in 2012 and the Course Certificate in Leadership and Conflict Management Skills for Electoral Stakeholders (LEAD) at the International Centre for Peace in Barcelona in 2013.
In addition, he attended and obtained course certificates on the ‘Practical Guide on Contractual Procedures for European Union External Actions (PRAG)’, the ‘Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development’ course, the DEVCO Academy's ‘Social Media for Development’ course and the OSCE/ODHIR Election Observation course, and the ‘Security and Protection in the Field’ course for EU Election Observation Missions.
He also supported the following courses of the EC-UNDP Joint Task Force on Electoral Assistance:
- Sustainability of Electoral Administration Practices;
- Information and Communication Technology Management Training – ICT;
- Course on Electoral Results Management Systems;
- Interactive synthesis report on enhancing credibility and acceptance of electoral processes;
- Course on sustainability in election administration.
Thanks to his field missions, Alessio has developed extensive experience in Africa, particularly in project implementation and the organisation of missions and events involving participants from all over the African continent.
His mother tongue is Italian and he is fluent in Spanish, English and French, while he has some knowledge of Catalan.
