Beatrice Bianchi is political analyst with over ten years of professional experience focusing on a range of thematic areas including democratic governance, transitional processes and assessment of fragility factors throughout Africa. She has an extended experience and network in West Africa, particularly on the Sahel region, as well as on elections in fragile context. Currently serving as ECES Senior Governance and Political Party expert, focussing on political parties’ mediation and conflict prevention. From 2018 to 2022 she was responsible for the Sahel program at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI); in this capacity she also led the TBI electoral assistance program to the government of Mali during first part of the Transition (Oct.20-May 21). Previously, she developed her expertise on democratisation process in fragile countries serving as Core Teams Political Analyst for the European Union Election Observation Missions (Guinea 2013-15, Malawi, Burundi, The Gambia, Nepal and Mali) and as senior expert for the World Bank, the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI). In particular, as country head for IRI, she led the political party training and technical assistance program to the election commission in Niger. She is also a trainer for France Terre d’Asile on geopolitics of conflicts in West Africa, since 2012.
Beatrice conducted extensive academic research on the Transition process in Guinea on the behalf of the University of Cambridge and the Sorbonne, where she holds and holds two Masters Degrees in African Studies and International Politics, respectively.
