Supporting the III Forum "Development for whom? Climate crisis, extractivism and inequality in Bolivia"

On July 9th, in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, a forum with candidates was held under the "Sin Mujeres no hay democracia" theme. More than 200 women from various organisations and institutions participated in the III Forum alongside the candidates. The Forum features the participation of representatives from the 10 alliances and political parties registered to participate in the August 2025 General Elections, who present their proposals and respond to the requests formulated by the participants.

The questions posed by the participants are based on the country's agenda. For Bolivia, with its origins in the Mirada de las Mujeres, the agenda was developed by more than 500 diverse and plural organisations at the national level, led by the Coordinadora de la Mujer, an ECES strategic partner in the framework of the Pro-Election Bolivia project supported by the European Union. The candidates presented their positions regarding the climate crisis, the extractives development model, and its different impacts on women, indigenous peoples, youth, and defenders of the territories. ECES, represented by Katia Uriona G, our expert in gender and political violence against women, participated in training sessions conducted by various institutions.

In June, ECES Founder and Executive Director signed an MoU with Tania Sánchez, director of La Coordinadora, to jointly make efforts in favour of democratic parity and prevention of political violence and harassment against women across the 25/26 electoral process.
