dialogue and political coordination

CAMEBOL La Paz and CEAE promote dialogue and political coordination at the Forum “Women at the Forefront: Leadership and Sisterhood in Politics”

La Paz, Bolivia – Wednesday, 12 November.
The Chamber of Women Entrepreneurs of Bolivia (CAMEBOL) – La Paz held the forum “Women at the Forefront: Leadership and Sisterhood in Politics,” a space for dialogue and reflection that brought together women leaders from the political sphere to analyze the progress, challenges, and opportunities to strengthen the role of women in the democratic development of the country. The event was carried out with the technical and financial support of the European Centre for Electoral Support (CEAE/ECES) as part of its programme to strengthen civil society organizations, and with the accompaniment of CECI Tea Weeb.

The gathering brought together prominent authorities and political women leaders, including Senators Soledad Chapetón, Tomasa Yarhui and Ana María Crispín, as well as Congresswoman Adriana Aguirre, who shared their experiences in leadership, political participation, and decision-making, along with the persistent challenges to ensuring a political environment free from violence and discrimination.

Representing the Pro Elección Bolivia project, Project Coordinator Luis Castellar delivered a reflection on the importance of strengthening democratic institutions and promoting political processes that are more inclusive and safer for women. His participation reaffirmed CEAE’s commitment to gender equality, the prevention of political violence, and the promotion of a pluralistic and respectful democratic culture.

During the discussion, participants underlined the need to strengthen sisterhood, mutual support, and inter-institutional coordination to advance toward a more equitable and representative country. CAMEBOL emphasized that when women take on leadership roles, politics is transformed, generating positive impacts on public management and on the consolidation of a more participatory democracy.

One of the most significant outcomes of the forum was the opening to develop a joint agenda between the assembly members and CAMEBOL La Paz, aimed at promoting actions to strengthen women’s leadership, encourage active political participation, and prevent harassment and political violence against women.

CAMEBOL reaffirmed its commitment to accompany, support, and make visible the work of women in politics and in all decision-making spaces, promoting strategic alliances that contribute to building a more inclusive, safe, and representative democracy for all.
