We organised a Leadership and Conflict Management Skills for Electoral Stakeholders (LEAD) workshop for commissioners and other institutional and non-state actors active in defending human rights and fundamental freedoms in Chad.
This initiative aligns with strategic priority 2 of the Projet d'Appui au Parlement et aux Processus Electoral (PAPPE) in Chad, focusing on building the capacity of the Commission Nationale des Droits de l'Homme (CNDH) members.
The workshop counted with the participation of different stakeholders drawn from institutions such as the CNDH, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Ministry of Women and Early Childhood, the Mediator of the Republic, the National Election Management Authority, the Court of Appeal, associations active in the defence of human rights, and the media.
Specifically, these workshops focused on:
- Strengthen the leadership skills of CNDH staff;
- Increase the level of confidence and self-awareness of electoral stakeholders;
- Provide electoral stakeholders with the tools they need to make decisions and manage electoral conflicts throughout the electoral cycle;
- Analyse the applications of leadership in the electoral cycle;
- Knowing and using leadership tools in electoral processes;
- Recognise the impact of conflict on electoral processes;
- Analyse and prepare strategies for managing electoral conflicts.
Through these workshops, participants have deepened their knowledge of leadership and conflict management. They will also have internalised various notions about inclusion and the electoral process, giving them a better understanding of the importance of respect for human rights in good governance and the conduct of peaceful elections.
