Moroni, Saturday 10 August 2024. A meeting was held on Saturday in the office of the Minister of Gender Promotion, Information, and Government Spokesperson, attended by representatives of the SHAWIRI consortium. This meeting followed an official request to discuss the objectives and progress of the EU-funded Project for Social Protection and Participation of Women, Youth, and Civil Society, implemented by the SHAWIRI consortium.
The SHAWIRI consortium, led by ECES, and including the French Red Cross/Comorian Red Crescent, Association Movement for Education and Equal Opportunities - MAEECHA , and EarthEcho Communications, presented in detail to the Minister the project’s goals and expected outcomes, as well as the actions already taken and underway to promote gender equality and enhance the civic participation of women and youth.
The presentation emphasized strengthening national support systems for victims of gender-based violence, supporting the coordination of these systems, establishing the Gender Thematic Group, and promoting female leadership in civil society and politics.
This meeting was an opportunity to highlight to the Minister the importance of collaboration with the Ministry of Gender Promotion to ensure the success and sustainability of the activities to be implemented. The Minister praised the commitment of the SHAWIRI consortium partners and expressed her support for the project.
