The National Human Rights Commission of Chad is organising an information and discussion day to strengthen its institutional visibility.
On Saturday 12 April 2025, the National Human Rights Commission of Chad organised an information and discussion day dedicated to the presentation of its mandate, missions and activities. This initiative received technical support from the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) through the Support Project for Electoral and Parliamentary Processes (PAPPE), funded by the European Union.
The president of the CNDH, Belngar Larmé Jacques, pointed out that the institution is still little known to some state and non-state actors despite the strength of its mandate to promote and protect human rights, hence the importance of this information day.
The European Union, represented by its ambassador, H.E. Przemysław (Przemek) Bobak, for its part, reaffirmed the importance of respect for human rights as a ‘fundamental value’ of the EU.
Through the PAPPE project, it has enabled concrete progress: creation of the NHRC website, development of a mobile application for handling complaints, and institutional capacity building.
The event was marked by the presence of the Prime Minister, Ambassador Allah Maye Halina, who emphasised ‘that integrating the issue of human rights into government action demonstrates consistency and respect towards our people’. He also emphasised the need for constant support for the CNDH to enable it to fully assume its responsibilities.
This information day represents a significant step in the CNDH's visibility strategy, as it aspires to obtain international A status accreditation and to definitively emerge from institutional ‘obscurity’, with the decisive support of its partners, first and foremost ECES and the European Union.
