Within the framework of the Technical Assistance project in support to the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA) of Benin, funded by the EU, the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) organised a LEAD training from April 11th to 13th, in Cotonou.
The training aimed to strengthen the leadership capacities of electoral actors, increase their confidence and provide them with the tools necessary to decision-making and to managing conflict throughout the electoral cycle.
For three days, 28 members of the CENA and several electoral agents, as well as civil society, familiarized themselves with the management of different types of electoral conflicts, strategies and conflict prevention, mediation and mitigation skills.
According to Geneviève Boco Nadjo, Vice President of the CENA, who participated in the training: "During the three days of training, the European Centre for Electoral Support equipped and strengthened the capacity of participants in election cycle management... ". She so enjoyed the course she hopes it will not be the last.
The 28 participants received the tools needed to better manage other elections from ECES.
It is important to note that this training marks the end of the technical assistance program the European Centre for Electoral Support to the CENA for the 2016 presidential elections.
